GuestHow can you believe that humans cannot have an impact on the world we live in? There are over 7 billion of us on the plant, and our numbers increase every day. It is estimated that in order to sustain our current life-style today we would need 1.2 Earths for resources. At present we consume 50% of the worlds freshwater and 50% of the net primary production. What does that leave for the other organisms on the planet? Now as for Global Warming, I will give you that there is a lot of well reasoned debate as to the cause, but you cannot ignore that it is in fact real. We are currently undergoing a mass extinction event, in which species are going extinct at an even faster rate than previous mass extinction events. This is caused because global warming results in natural timing miss-matches, as well as habitat loss. Now many of you will read this and disbelieve it because your ideas are stubbornly ingrained in your head, and your constantly reinforcing your own ideas on sites like these.

However, try enlightened self-interest for a change, that is the practice of protecting yourselves by protecting the Earth. Because it is foolish to believe that the human species will be unaffected by the destruction of resources, overpopulation, and climate change. Also for those of you who argue that it is not economically in our best interest to protect the environment consider the services that the environment naturally provides (such as: protection of coastal area, water filtration, air filtration, and so on). One study (Robert Costanza 1997) found that the an annual value of these services is US$16–54 trillion, at the time the that value was 1.8 times the global GNP.

Before you insist on claiming these facts are not valid look them up for yourself.

GuestYeah. I object to nothing up there. The makers of this site are uneducated and scientifically retarded. Same with the people who actually believe them. There is proof, and the froof isn't fake because I'm experiencing it where I live. Climate has changed a lot here and we actually had to get an AC unit a couple years ago because the mountain winds weren't cold like they were in past summers. In Texas they reached a record high in Dallas and remained consistent for two weeks. I know because I have friends and family down there.

GuestI'm visiting this site to see how stupid the people who don't believe that global warming exists are. My Religion teacher the other day told us that global warming wasn't real and I was reminded why I don't go to church.

There's proof right in my own area. It's Pennsylvania in January yet today it was 55 degrees out. That just doesn't happen. EVER. Global Warming is having an increasingly noticeable affect and in the next 30 years the problems will be awful.

GuestThe problem with AGW is that is *is* a religion. In the same way the Inquisition sought out and killed all those that posed a threat to their dogma, so it goes with the AGW fanatics. If the above posts are any indication of the average intellect found in most AGW fanatics, it illustrates this perfectly. Inconvenient truths include:

CO2 is not thermally opaque, and has slight to no impact on retained heat.

CLOUD COVER *is* opaque, and has been the primary moderator of global temperature.

A single volcanic eruption far exceeds the amount of CO2 released by human causes in an entire decade.

Focusing on CARBON DIOXIDE, a NECCESARY BUILDING BLOCK OF LIFE as a pollutant removes awareness and resources from things that would actually help the earth. Reducing heavy metals dumping, ridding the world of GMO pollutants, and reducing or removing pharmaceutical toxins would be much better use of the resources now being mis-spent on this AGW nonsense. Wake up people.

In a direction of logical thought, I would ask you this question...When was the LAST time these temps you mentioned and/or how close they are to what happened on the day of referrence? I would suggest to research your question before stepping in and stating anything...:-) I'll put money on it that this temp has occurred before in Earth's past history....
